Conary News
Post details: rPath Linux 0.60 (Beta) available (x86 and x86_64)
rPath Linux 0.60 is released: the first Beta release of rPath Linux. (We forgot to update the graphics, so it still announces itself as an Alpha release. Oops. At least we fixed bugs.)
Since rPath Linux 0.51, the entire distribution has been rebuilt, and is now available on a different label: conary.rpath.com@rpl:rpl1. A much newer version of Conary is included. TeX seems to work much better. The cron daemon should work by default. Some bugs have been fixed, and some packages have been updated to newer versions. There are many changes "under the hood" that are not immediately user-visible.
Download from download.rpath.com. Several mirrors now also have rPath Linux 0.60 available, and you can also pick it up from the torrent.
Important Points:
- You may wish to change the
installLabelPathin your/etc/conaryrcfile to point to the newconary.rpath.com@rpl:rpl1label instead ofconary.rpath.com@rpl:devel - KDE still does not work on the x86_64 architecture
- The sysstat init script still complains about a bad path during boot (this is fixed for our next release).
- Please search our bugzilla for known bugs, and file reports for new bugs that you find.
- Conary requires pycrypto, but there is a bug in the minimal install that causes pycrypto not to be installed. Either use the full install, or after a minimal install, reboot in rescue mode (boot the cd with
linux rescue) and run the following commands (assuming your cdrom is normally /dev/hdc):mknod /tmp/hdcmkdir /mnt/dmount /tmp/hdc /mnt/dmkdir -p /var/tmp- x86:
conary update --root /mnt/sysimage /mnt/d/rPath/changesets/pycrypto-2.0.1-4-0.1-x86.ccs - x86_64:
conary update --root /mnt/sysimage /mnt/d/rPath/changesets/pycrypto-2.0.1-4-0.1-x86_64.ccs
