rPath Linux 0.99.3 (Beta) available (x86 and x86_64)

rPath Linux 0.99.3 is now available for download. It contains Conary 0.80.2, a new kernel with a fix for the IDE problem we saw before, new mysql and postgresql major versions, and more!

In particular, we have:

  • kernel 2.6.14.4, with a fix added for the IDE problems that had caused us to revert previously.
  • mysql 5.0.16 (very-highly-requested major version update) and its dependencies (php, perl-DBD-MySQL, qt) rebuilt.
  • postgresql 8.1.1 (highly-requested minor version update) and its dependencies (php, perl-DBD-pg) rebuilt.
  • firefox fix for CPU hang on certain UI operations.
  • Conary 0.80.2
  • cups: SECURITY: Fix for CAN-2005-2097
  • curl: SECURITY: 7.15.1 upstream fix for URL buffer overflow.
  • perl: SECURITY: Fix for CVE-2005-3962 Perl format string integer wrap vulnerability
  • anaconda: install fixes for grub.
  • kid: 0.8 new upstream version with enhancements for Conary
  • poppler: SECURITY: CVE-2005-3191 and CVE-2005-2097, also built library correctly to fix evince.
  • gmp: no longer depends on Pentium IV instruction set; allows Conary to run on hardware such as Pentium III and some Athlon processors that do not implement the SSE2 instructions.
  • initscripts: Fixes for LVM capability.
  • gnome-vfs: Added runtime dependencies so that programs such as eog work reliably even if group-gnome is not installed on the system. (eog was rebuilt in the process of adding the correct runtime dependencies, and so also has a new version.)
