rPath is Hiring!

rPath, Inc. is seeking people to join our team at our Raleigh, NC location. We're going to change the face of computing; for that we need your help. If any of the following positions look interesting, send your resume to jobs@rpath.com for a chance to work with some of the best and brightest the Linux community has to offer.

Build System

We're looking for a Software Engineer to work on rPath's core technologies. We're not looking for someone that just uses Linux distributions, we're looking for someone that creates them -- from bootstrap, to stabilization, to maintenance.

In other words, you have:

  • An understanding of Linux-based operating system structure and development including a deep understanding of the GNU toolchain (binutils, gcc, autoconf, automake, and friends)
  • Experience handling complex interdependencies between software components, both at build time and run time
  • An understanding of Software Configuration Management (SCM) concepts and techniques
  • Experience designing and developing web-based applications
  • Experience applying automated testing methodologies
  • Experience applying Object Oriented Programming principles to solve real-world problems

Did we just describe you? If so, let's talk -- email your resume to
jobs@rpath.com!

Distribution

We're looking for a Software Engineer to help us develop our reference Linux distribution -- rPath Linux.

This means you have:

  • Experience developing Open Source software, especially participating in teams developing Open Source software and providing patches to other existing Open Source project teams
  • GNU toolchain and OS build process experience, including bootstrapping
  • Experience creating and building any type of Linux distribution

Is this you? If so, send your resume to jobs@rpath.com!

rBuilder

We're looking for a Software Engineer to help us develop rBuilder and associated technologies.

This means you have:

  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying large-scale Web applications
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with relational database design/administration using open source RDBMS technology
  • Experience configuring/tuning Apache for maximum performance in a high-traffic environment
  • Experience performance tuning open source relational databases
  • Recent Linux/Unix experience
  • Current object-oriented programming experience, with exposure to Python a plus

Sound familiar? If so, your resume needs to go to jobs@rpath.com!

Web Apps (Intern)

We're looking for a summer intern to help out with web application development. You'll be building the next generation of applications for managing virtual appliances built with rPath's core technologies. This is not your typical intern position!

Want to really have something to write about for that "What I did on my Summer vacation" essay? Email a resume to jobs@rpath.com!

Documentation

We're looking for a Technical Writer to help us describe all the cool stuff we're doing here at rPath.

We need people with 2+ years of real-world experience describing complex technical concepts to audiences of varying experience levels. In other words, if you find yourself delving into the latest technology and then explaining it to your friends for the fun of it, we should talk!

You must have solid Linux experience and a tool-agnostic approach to content delivery. If you know some Python and have experience with Linux package management technologies, so much the better.

Are you this person? If so, fire off a carefully-crafted resume to jobs@rpath.com!
